Siiiiiiiiiick

I am so so so sick. My eyes are hanging out of my head, I have the shivers but I’m also really warm, my top lip is like the Nile delta, and one of my eyes feels… sticky.

I’m going to have to get a med. cert. to be excused from my exams. No way can I perform to any standard feeling like this, and it’s not like I’d be slipping from an 80 to a 75- every point counts!

Wind down

My doctor has pointed out that relaxation techniques (meditation, deep breathing, that one where you systematically tense and then relax all the muscles in your body, etc) don’t work if you only enlist them when you are stressed- you are too stressed by that point to be able to use them properly! The trick is to practice them when you are calm enough to be able to control them.

But how will I ever think to practice them when I am stressed? I’ll have nothing to remind me to practice them!

Hmm. As usual, I’ll try my best, whatever that is

Two weeks until exams. Starting to wind up. It’s times like these that I wish I was on meds!

I read what seemed to be some good advice on tackling big projects in a meaningful way [ http://www.additudemag.com/adhd/article/974.html ]. I’m going to try it out for some college deadlines I have. I’ll post my action plan here and keep track of how I’m getting on with it. Input welcome!

Do you find sometimes you just nibble on junk all day and never have a real dinner because you can’t concentrate long enough to a) decide what you are going to eat or b) put down laptop/book/remote control to prepare it? Well, problem solved:

STIR FRY. Man it takes no time at all. Five minutes, maybe. And you can prepare it from zero fresh ingredients, so you can always make it if you can do a TINY bit of prep i.e. always have noodles/frozen veg/jars of sauce to hand.

Sometimes, when you are having an Off Day, a Day where you can’t get up off your behind and Get That Stuff Done, and you feel really bad about it- on those days, it can help to get a sense of perspective
